Signs You Need to Change Your Pool Maintenance Routine - TMC Custom Pools

There’s nothing quite like diving into a cool, clean pool on a hot day. But pool ownership is also a lot of work. Pools need to be frequently cleaned and the chemicals need to be balanced. If you find yourself getting frustrated with the weekly pool maintenance routine, it’s a good sign you should contract with a pool service company. You should also consider getting professional pool services if you notice any of the following problems with your pool.

You’ve noticed cloudy water.

Cloudy water is a common problem and it can have a variety of causes. A pool technician can determine if your cloudy water is caused by any of the following issues:

  • Poor water circulation
  • Poor water filtration
  • Heavy particulate matter
  • Low pool sanitizer
  • Presence of algae

The pool technician can get your pool sparkly clean again. He or she can also diagnose and fix malfunctioning pool filters and pumps, and get the chemicals balanced properly.

Your pool has green or black algae.

Algae love sunny days. The sunlight encourages the marine plant life to multiply rapidly. Not only does an algae-covered pool look uninviting, it can attract harmful bacteria and cause the water to become cloudy. Unfortunately, automatic pool cleaners don’t handle algae very well. It’ll need to be manually vacuumed and scrubbed. Your pool technician can handle this for you. Once the pool is scrubbed, the water chemistry needs to be balanced and the sanitizer should be replenished.

The pool sides have accumulated a whitish-gray stain.

This stain is caused by hard water deposits. It develops when the pool water has imbalanced pH and calcium. The pool technician can test your levels. Your calcium hardness should be between 200 and 400 ppm. Once the technician gets the calcium level within the right range, he or she can adjust the alkalinity and balance the pH.

You should be able to enjoy your pool without worrying about water chemistry and filtration. Call TMC Custom Pools and Renovations at (520) 797-0168 or (480) 545-7665 to request our world-class weekly service. Our offices are conveniently located in Tucson, Casa Grande, and Phoenix, AZ.
